Music in the Park returns to the Rochester Municipal Park Thursday, June 19, at the Bebout Municipal Park Band Shell. The band shelter is new this year. Designed and built to accommodate the music groups that perform on Thursday nights, the shelter is a beautiful wood construction. It stands out and it will certainly be a desired venue for many summer functions.

Made possible from a generous gift from the Barbara J. Bebout Trust, the shelter replaces the previous stage area for the Kiwanis Club six-week concert series. “Barbara’s gift is in memory of her father, Lewis Rexford Bebout. He was a 1917 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, and settled in Rochester after his service as an enlisted officer in the Army. After returning from World War I, Lewis opened his law practice on Main Street above the old Hills Theater,” states the dedication plaque on the new shelter. Barbara “enjoyed the simple beauty of walking in the park, and was especially delighted with the Music in the Park performances.”
